Euro Hostel Liverpool, 54 Stanley St
Once we arrived to Liverpool we wanted to start sightseeing early in the morning. We arrived at 8am, since check in wasn’t till 3:00pm the receptionist mentioned that we could leave our luggage in their communal storage closet for a small fee £5. When we went downstairs to leave our luggage they also had these storage lockers where you can insert a £1 coin and you could use for a few hours which is what we used to place our electronics in. It was really helpful especially because we wanted to avoid bringing our bags into museums and having to carry everything around with us.
The hostel was affordable as we paid roughly £50.00 a night for a private room with a double bed and a private bathroom. Our room was located on the second floor and also over looked Mathew St which was incredibly nice to look out of our window at night. Our room and bathroom were both clean and plenty of towels were provided.
I will personally say that I wouldn’t book this hostel again due to the noise level from Mathew St, there are plenty of bars right outside and the music was unbelievably loud. Usually the music would start as we got to the hostel around 10pm and would stop around 6am, so we didn’t get much sleep for the three days during the week that we stayed there. It seemed like every morning there would be street cleaning, power washing, and vacuuming, and following the loud music, the garbage trucks and cleaning would begin.
The hostel itself was great, and it wasn’t the hostel’s fault but out in the street it was quite loud so I would recommend bringing ear plugs. The hostel was in a prime location, right in the centre of Liverpool, close to everything! But I would advice booking this hostel during the fall or winter.
Pound Bakery 51 Lord St
Open daily 8am -5pm and they’re located all around central Liverpool. Pound Bakery is by far the cheapest place to pick up breakfast or lunch! The most expensive items on their menu is their filled Baguette sandwiches that are £1.50 and they are actually fairly large. They offer plenty of deals at their stores which is great if you are traveling with a family!
Tesco Superstore, Msu 46, Hanover St
Just like Pound Bakery you are able to find cheap eats here! One of my favorite things to buy at the Tesco Express stores are their precut fruit for about £1 for a large container! You can’t find precut mangos for that price! They all come with a little spork inside for you to eat on the go, and if you are planning to do a lot of walking like I did it’s a great snack! If you’re like me and like to try different snacks and drinks from different countries, shopping at these stores are a great start!
Home Bargains, 56- 58 Wall Street
I went to this store to pick up a variety of chocolate bars and snacks for family back in the states. Their prices are incredibly low, usually a few pence each! This store was really convenient in location too, there is a post office right around the corner in the WHSmith building (upstairs).
Poundland, Basnett Street
This is the Dollar Tree of Liverpool, everything is really cheap, items are as low as a few pence to £5. Grocery including snacks and drinks are 50pence to £1 , their home decor is what is £5 but since I wasn’t planning on shopping for shower curtains it didn’t bother me.
Cavern quarter
We came across a John Lennon statue behind our hostel on our way to the Museum of Liverpool and stopped to take a picture, but what we didn’t picture was us nearly getting hit by a garbage truck that was making its way into the alley. Once we arrived at the museum we were a bit early so we took some pictures in front of the Royal Liver Building while we waited for the museum to open.

Since we had a busy day of sightseeing planned we hurried to up the stairs to the top floor to view the Double Fantasy exhibition. The exhibit shows how John Lennon and Yoko Ono used their fame and influence to campaign for peace and human rights across the world, transforming not only their own lives, but art, music and activism forever.
The exhibit features personal objects alongside art, music and film produced by both John and Yoko, the exhibition is drawn from Yoko’s own private collection, some of which has never been displayed.
The Museum of Liverpool is free admission, then exhibit is also free entry and will be available till April 22, 2019.
We finished our day by antiquing at Red Brick Vintage, I absolutely fell in love with this antique market, its absolutely enormous! There is plenty of retro & vintage furniture and clothing, overall I purchased a 1960’s ceramic serving bowl for only a few pounds, but I did wish I had brought a larger carry-on!
